Tips to Brighten Wet Winter Days

Hey Lovelies

I thought today I would share with you what I like to do when the weather is very wet and cold out, like it currently is here in WA. Sometimes when the weather is horrible I don't want to get out of bed, some days it will take me until midday to get out of my bedroom! Unfortunately we can't spend all of Winter hibernating in our bedrooms as there is still Uni and Work to go to, I do sometimes like to do certain things to brighten up my day.

Light a Candle.
I love candles and using a candle will brighten up your house and add a little warmth. Also you can light a candle with a citrus or other summery smell and pretend that it is warm outside.

Wear a Bright Lipstick.
Bright lipsticks are typically kept for summer with berry and nude tones out for the cooler months. Wearing a bright lip can usually make me feel a lot less blue (*from the freezing weather*).

Add a Scarf.
I love scarves, they instantly add to your outfit and also keep you warm! There are so many great designs and patterns out there I could just own all of them, currently I am loving the snood design but  have my eye on a fox design scarf that I have seen in several stores.

Buy/Pick some Flowers.
Flowers always remind me of Summer and they brighten up the house and they will definitely add a spring to your step if they are gifted to you (paying attention there boyfriend?).

Smile.
I always forget to do this step but you can usually just make a dreary day better by smiling. Make a joke with someone or watch a funny movie, anything that will make you smile!

I hope you have liked my tips to get through some wet weather, what do you like to do?

A trip to Sportsgirl

I recently went on a Holiday to the Gold Coast, the shopping centres they have over there, Oh My God! I have a Sportsgirl shop in my local shopping centre at home but it just felt ten times bigger and better while on the Gold Coast. I have seen a lot of hype about the Sportsgirl lipsticks on Instagram lately and while I am not a lipstick person, I was intrigued. So I wandered into Sportsgirl with a mission to check out their lipsticks.

I did end up picking up a lipstick to take home, which is called the Pout About It! Lip Colour in shade Beauty Queen. It is fairly simple but I am quite intrigued with the packaging of these lipsticks. Sleek black at the top which is is fine but the really interesting part is the glass/plastic bottom in which you can see the colour of the lipstick. I really like this idea as it is quite easy to see what colour you are picking out of your collection (not that I really have that issue as my lip drawer is seriously lacking lipsticks).

This is a lovely pink colour which applies quite sheer on the lips. It does take a couple of swipes to build up the colour, but I wasn't going for something super pigmented which the line does offer in shades such as Pink Ladies or Bombshell. I just wanted a nice wash of colour which stays on my lips for a reasonable 3-4 hours without food or drink

. I quite like the formula, moisturising a little but definitely not drying. I might have to go back sometime and pick up a few more colours as they are a bargain for $9.95 AU and they have some cute colours, I have my eyes on Tropo, Catwalk Queen or Fruit Tingle.

What is that, another nude palette to add to my collection? Yes you heard me correctly, I have purchased another nude palette, actually I ended up purchasing two on my holiday. They were different colours though and both cheap so I think that is justifiable! I picked up the Sportsgirl Wild at Heart Eye Palette Bronze for $9.95 AU.

This palette is made from cardboard so I know from experience that it will get quite bent and bashed around after a while of use, the eye shadows will hopefully remain in contact however. It contains 6 neutral shadows, 3 light colours and 3 darker colours.

They are decently pigmented, not chalky but not as smooth as butter! You can make quite a few different looks using the one palette and I think for only $9.95 it is quite worth the price.

Considering the quality and price point of this I would be willing to look at the other palettes they offer as well! Sportsgirl here I come.

My Sunday Night Masque

Hey Lovlies

I thought it was about time I reviewed some of my current skincare bits and I felt I should start it off with something I have been using weekly for a few months now. The Aesop Parsely Seed Clarifying Masque (masque, oh so fancy face mask). I was given this by my lovely partner as part of a massive beauty/skincare lot, which I may of bought online for him to give me. I grabbed it off adorebeauty for  $39 AU which  is the RRP for this product.

Aesop is actually an Australian brand and was established in Melbourne in 1987. It is absolutely terrible but I only discovered Aesop after reading about it on a bunch of UK blogs. I really like the fact that this is an Australian brand and I can easily purchase this, a big thing when you live in Australia, particularly Western Australia.

On to the masque, this is part of the Parsely Seed range which includes a large collection of products, however this is the only item I own from the range. I also own the control gel but am waiting to open it. The description on the packaging of the masque reads:
Perfectly formulated anti-oxidant clarifying masque designed for frequent cleansing. Suited to most skin types, this masque removes impurities and refreshes the skin.
I quite like the packaging of this masque, I feel like it will be easy to get most of the masque out of the tube. It does have a tendency to get dirty, but so do all my other mask tubes. This tube contains 60ml of product and I think that this is huge, despite how small it appears to be. This has lasted me a few months with weekly and sometimes twice a week applications, and I feel like it is not even half used/half full.

I like to use this masque on a Sunday evening, which is my pamper night. I find that my skin is always left a little brighter and clearer the next morning. If I am having a bad skin week I like to also use this during the middle of the week for a pep me up. I really have been enjoying this masque and I can see the effects of it. It is probably a little more expensive than I would like but considering the price and the great results I will definitely be repurchasing it. I do however use other masks during the week to ensure I don't overuse this one. This is not a hydrating mask so I would not recommend it for dry skinned gals, but if you have problematic skin I think this is the mask for you.

Have you tried anything from Aesop?

Contour and Highlight Duo

Hey Guys

Excuse the grubby sticker mark :(

I recently made a new purchase (yes during my spending ban) after seeing so many people rave about this product on Instagram and I just had to have it (follow me @justalittlebitofliz). The lovely Face of Australia Glamazon Contour & Highlight Kit in Leopardess is now all mine. I had read that people were struggling to get this although it is available in both Priceline and Big W. I went to my local Big W and found that it was all stocked up there, I was a very happy girl.

This kit comes in a lovely leopard print sturdy case, inside also contains a very decent sized mirror. However the packaging is a bit on the large and bulky side, but it is so lovely. Inside the case there is two pans, one filled with the contour and the other the highlighter..

The contour is a lovely matte brown shade which is decently pigmented and not at all muddy on my skin. The highlighter shade is buttery soft and contains champagne colored shimmer particles. I mainly bought this for the contour shade, however the highlighter is lovely as well. My only suggestion is for the contour shade to be a bit bigger than the highlighter shade as I am more likely to use that up first.

This retails for $9.95 AU and I believe this is limited edition, so snap it up quickly if you are interested! There is also a Minx a Blush & Highlighter Kit available so look out for that as well.

Review: Maybelline New York Express Remover

Hey Guys

Just a really quick review on a product I am absolutely in love with for you today. I have been using this product a few months now and I never thought to do a post about it until my lovely Mum suggested I do. I told her to use the nail polish remover yesterday and the look on her face was priceless, she is now wanting one for herself, and so she should as this is a truly amazing product.

This is a pot that contains a sponge inside that has a circle hole in the middle which stretches to fit your finger in it, I assume that the pot is filed with nail polish remover. You swirl your finger around a few times and once you pull your finger out you can see that it is nail polish free! I absolutely love this, it has made taking nail polish off ten times easier for me. It even smells nicer and not as strong as other nail polish removers, which is great for people like me who have partners who loathe the smell. The only issue with this remover is that you cant use it to take off your glitter polish, particularly large glitter particle polishes. I used mine to take off bar glitter nail polish and now my sponge is a bit cut up inside, nothing too bad but I am sure if I used it a few more times with my glitter nail polish it would all fall apart. It does cost $9.95 AU however you can often find it on sale with other Maybelline makeup, I would happily pay full price for it however which must mean its true love.

Have you tried a nail polish remover like this one?

Review: Lust Have It! April Beauty Box

Hey Guys

This post is a bit late so I apologise for that, partly my fault as I received this last week but have been too busy with Uni to post this, partly Lust Have It!'s fault for not sending out their boxes early so that we can actually receive them in the correct month. Despite all the drama behind the box this month I was quite impressed with what I have received, that comes down to one product that I was excited to have received, the rest is all a bit boring. On to the box though!

First thing to mention, new packaging! This month the 'boxes' have come in cute custom designed clear makeup bags that read Lustre Beauty on them. I quite like this, the zip on mine gets caught a little bit but it is cute and usable regardless.

This months box came with 5 products which you can see listed above in the card that comes with the box.

This was the one product I was very excited for, I voted for the inclusion of this on a facebook vote and they must of kept record of who wanted want as other people got different products depending on what they wanted. I haven't actually tried a lip/cheek stain before but I am really excited to try this out!

There was huge controversy on Lust Have It!'s facebook page regarding this bronzer, the weight we received is 3g net weight but the card reads 10g net weight. I really couldn't care less about the mistake, Lust Have It! have issued a statement and tried to fix their mistakes, the internet can just be very cruel! This bronzer is limited edition, I found out because this version is highly pigmented which makes up for the smaller net weight despite being full size. I am not very excited about bronzer, I received an absolutely massive loose powder one a while ago in a Lust Have It! box and I typically only like using pressed powder bronzers, however I will try this out and maybe it can double as an eyeshadow?

This is a sample size moisturiser for dry skin. Another moisturiser that is not necessarily for my skin type. Not much else to add.

I got one of these Wotnot sample wipe packs from their facebook campaign, this is a new facial wipe that is specifically for oily/sensitive skin which is perfect for me. While I haven't tried the pack I was sent yet, I have tried another wipe from Wotnot before and I know that they feel lovely and luxurious on the skin so I am happy that these were included this month.

Another moisturiser for dry skin sample included in the same month, not only did we receive a moisturiser sample last month, but two in one month!!! I haven't tried Aveeno and I have been meaning to, but I am a little annoyed they didn't put something else from the range in.

This will be the last beauty box I will receive from Lust Have It! as I have let my annual subscription run out. I have been receiving the same kind of products over and over, and I am getting more unimpressed with the wait for the boxes, it just seems to be getting longer and longer. I am too poor at the moment to look for another subscription with a different group, but I will do some research and when I am on Uni break I might splurge out with my extra money from more shifts and try another beauty box company.

Do you have any ideas for other Australian beauty box companies?

Review: Maybelline New York Color Tattoo Eyeshadow in Pomegranate Punk

When I was on holidays and in a chemist, browsing the makeup section I came across this little baby by Maybelline. I already own another three color tattoo eyeshadows, and I absolutely love them. I had seen the shade Pomegranate Punk on a couple of blog pages, I think they were all UK bloggers however as looking at the website I cannot find this shade listed. I had also looked around in stores in WA but no luck. However I was looking at the sale section and found this! Score! I would of purchased it full price but I think I managed to grab it for around $8 AU.

As with the other color tattoo eyeshadows, this is a great formula which is highly pigmented and lasts a long time on the eyes. This is a very vibrate colour for me, considering I am mainly a neutral loving girl, I think this will be the perfect colour for Winter however. It is a deep plum colour with some shimmer and works well as an overall colour in my opinion. Similar to Bad to the Bronze this can be worn all over as a wash of colour.

What are your must have colours for winter?

April Monthly Favourites

Hey Lovlies!

So it is that time of month again where I look back at what I have been loving for the past month. This month has gone super quick, Uni work is getting more intense with more and more deadlines looming. I even had a week holiday this month, which was fantastic but went very quickly like the whole month. I don't have a lot to feature this month as it has been a relaxed month in terms of beauty, skincare and hair care products. Make up is all products that I can use easily and quickly to fit in with my busy schedule. I have started using a new skincare routine but I only just received it at the end of the month so I will feature that here when I have had long enough to properly trial it. My hair care has remained the same, well actually less intense than my old routine as I chopped off all my dead split ends and now my hair feels a hundred times better than it did previously. On to the top products of the month...

I purchased a new foundation this month, Covergirl Outlast Stay Fabulous 3 in 1 Foundation in the shade 825. This is a reasonable shade match, maybe a little too light but nothing a bit of bronzer can't fix. This was the only foundation I took on holiday with me and was great as it is medium coverage, lasts, is a primer and contains sunscreen. It is not enough foundation for me on special occasions but for everyday usage this is great! I purchased this on sale for $12 at Kmart.

Rather than taking my loose finishing veil with me on holidays and making a huge mess every morning, I took this translucent pressed powder. This is the Rimmel London Stay Matte Long Lasting  Pressed Powder in shade 001 Transparent. The packaging is a bit flimsy but this stuff ensures my foundation and other makeup stays put all day with little need for touch ups .

I have been ignoring all my other blushes this month in favor of my BYS Coral Blusher, which I have mentioned on here a few times before. I absolutely love this blush and it's robust packaging meant I knew it would be fine in my luggage when I was away.

To prep my lips which have been incredibly dry this month I have been using the Lush Popcorn Lip Scrub which smells and tastes amazing! I rub this all on my lips to ensure that there is no flakiness when I apply my lip products. On my lips has been the Face of Australia Sheer Gloss Lip Crayon pictured here in shade Cupcake which is a lovely sheer pink shade. These are not long lasting but easy to apply on the go and don't require a mirror to ensure you haven't missed a spot. Simply swipe on and purse lips and tada, even glossy lips!

What have you been loving this past month?

No Makeup May

When I wrote the title of this post it sort of sounds like I wont be wearing any makeup this month, this however is not the case. I simply am putting myself on a spending ban for the month as I have gone a little crazy lately with the holiday and comfort purchasing (any body else have a bad day and then feel better once you have purchased a few things?).

I will be shopping my stash for the month and reviewing some new things that I haven't had a chance to properly test out.

Do you guys have any suggestions for posts that I could do this month? I have been feeling a little uninspired lately but need to get back into it!

Love Liz xx
